About US

Big One Little One is a live art collective comprised of four Australian artists, Brendan O’Connell (Sydney), Penelope Kentish (Bathurst), Rachel Jackett (touring the East Coast of Australia), and Sarah Coffee (Newcastle).

We have been commissioned to present and self-presented live art experiences in a variety of engagements across Australia.

Blind Date, a one-on-one participatory experience, premiered in self-presented seasons in Newcastle and Melbourne (2011) and has since been presented by City of Darwin’s Youth Week (NT) in 2013, Adelaide Fringe (SA) in 2013, Adelaide Festival (SA) at Barrio in 2012, Brisbane Festival as part of Under The Radar (QLD) in 2012, and Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s Village Bizarre in The Rocks (NSW), 2012. Blind Date was nominated for a 2011 Green Room Award, a 2011 City of Newcastle Drama Award, and a 2012 Arts Hub Award.

Confetti, a one-minute party for one person, premiered at Melbourne Fringe Festival where it won the 2013 Best Live Art Award. Confetti then toured to Sydney for The Rocks Village Bizarre in Nov/Dec 2013 and to Junction Arts Festival, Launceston in September 2014.

Room Service, a secret show for five people in a hotel room, premiered in a sold out season at The Rocks Village Bizarre in November 2014.

I might just take you on the AstroTurf, a ten person audio-theatre experience, had its first development through Canberra Youth Theatre’s Open House Residency in 2011, and premiered in a sold out season in Bathurst in July 2014.

We have presented several other works at St Kilda Festival (VIC) in 2012, Harvest Festival (NSW, VIC, QLD) in 2011 and 2012, Southbound Festival (WA) in 2012, Jurassic Lounge (NSW) in 2013, Fresh Air Festival (VIC) in 2013, to name a few.

In 2017 we are producing Grown Ups Do Show and Tell in Sydney, a late-night of story-telling,  with some pretty funny and wonderful people sharing some great stories (and awkward memories) from their childhood.

In 2016 we produced a new participatory work, We always wanted to be professional dancers, performed by BOLO members plus a special guest star in each city, a community choir, local dance schools, and YOU!

We also presented ...Just for one day as part of Bathurst's Inland Sea of Sound Festival, and a micro-festival of our works from the past five years – Pick Me Up – at ATYP’s Wharf studios.
